Finity an overview
Product Design Lead

What Finity does
What Finity does
At Finity I work on a back office software suite that offers an end to end solution to temp payroll. With products tailored to the specific needs of recruitment agencies, payroll companies and temporary workers, we aim to bridge the legislative and administrative gaps that arise from the specific needs of contractual employment.

My role
I joined Finity as the first in-house UX Designer on the team. The prospect of a rebrand, business reposition and several years of design debt with a new push for user-centricity sounded like a fun and challenging time to join.
Now, as Product Design Lead, I contribute strategically whilst remaining a hands on designer. My incredibly talented team means there is often room to juggle individually contributed work. Hyper-aware of being early in my career for a lead role, it was important to me to continue to contribute work and keep the craft in my practice.
My team
During my first year at Finity I hired 2 designers, Toni and Mika, making us a design team of 3. This gave us our capacity to work across our 3-strong product suite as well as support our marketing team.
Together we: have released our rewards platform, handed over designs for our first mobile app, contributed to several new features, have the building blocks of a design system that we are working with dev to try and align our legacy features with. Proudly, we have implemented user-research practices, a collaborative effort between customer support, product and design. (We also simply have a grand time in our stand-ups and crits)

Design at Finity
Design at Finity
I work closely with my product pal in crime (our Product Lead) George, to push to solve business and user problems one feature and enhancement at a time.
Our goal as a design team is to ensure that our users are adequately represented in what is oftentimes a complicated and stressful process for people who can be forgotten about. I can't stand software that doesn't work well. I don't want to ever be at fault for someone's stressful interaction with software that they have to use to get their job done.
My personal goal is to make sure that design becomes an essential element of how we work at Finity by crafting easy-to-learn and quick-to-use experiences via beautiful interfaces. With our users in high stress jobs and situations all week, I want the reliability of our software to be the last thing they think about.
Every day is a push to ensure user-centricity is slowly etched into the core of the business. Every day is a step closer to making sure our platforms are all aligned, working seamlessly together in a trusted, predictable and scaleable way.
Right now, this looks like being the creatively driven detectives between engineering, product, customer support and sales. With a focus on understanding the niche problems we solve at work, and how we can make all these elements play together smoothly and seamlessly.
